Building a Basset Ranch

All of our Bassets live in our home. But they still need a place to run and play. So we started the Basset Corral. This would give the Bassets a place to play in a safe and healthy area. We have designed our ranch into five area. We start with the general play area for all the Bassets to play. This is great for the dads and moms to interact in a outdoor setting daily. Sometimes the moms need to speed time with pups by themselves. So we also have 2 area designed for splitting up the group as needed. The smaller area is great for breeding and visits. While the Parents and other pups can run and play in the larger area.

Most of the time the Basset run around with the area open to each other. Given them more room to play tag. A long with the Bassets play areas. We also build a 26' porch for the puppies to play on with their new parents. Visiting time for those who can come by is very special. The puppies can have visitor from 5 to 6 weeks old. Until they leave for there new homes around 8-10 weeks. During the day, the Bassets always seem to caught a nap or two on the porch. Keeping the dogs for sale near me.

Now that the fencing is up. We are replanting the corral with new southern grass. Bassets are small animal or slow animal hunting dogs. There for they like to sniff around in the grass like they are on the big hunt. These areas have also have smaller fencing to keep the basset of in bad wealthier. These allows them to coming into house without missing up the carpet and rugs.

 

Puppy Runs

We are pound of our Bassets and their home.
It's a on going project. Building all the new Basset stuff is fun. Each time I turn on the saw or bang with the hammer. The Bassets come to watch. I have to keep my eyes open. Puppies love to take anything they can get to play with. My hammer is never were I put it. And the cut off pieces of wood also seem to be fair game. Rusty helps me with the string on the new poach.

We feel that keeping the Bassets close together builds a better temperament basset. Each and everyone of our bassets play, eat and sleep together. We are proud of this fact. Bassets that learn to get along with many dog will be more open to others.

Remember, the best puppies come from the best parents. Our new puppies are being trained thru parents actions and the actions of the pack. Our puppy runs are located just below the play ground. As our new puppies begin to come in and out of the whelping room to the puppy runs. Their begin to potty train and play near the pack.

The play ground and the puppies runs have been built with a water drain system under the 1200 lbs of rock. When we have bad weather at HB. We close of the grassy areas. This keep the pack from getting dirty. Remember, our Bassets coming into our home thru out the day

 

 

 

 

Whelping Room

Outside the entree door to the whelping room we built a smaller porch that leads out to the new play area. This allows the pack to come into the garage to see what new project is being worked on. We feel that it is important for the Bassets to be able to move around to the different area. This keep the pack in contact with each other and us.

Now we are builder a whelping room with puppy runs. We started with a Whelping Room that is located inside the attach garage to our home. This was the most important part of our ranch. All of our new Basset Puppies are born in our home and stay there un till around 3 to 4 weeks old. At this time we more them in to the Whelping Room. This is when the Puppies begin to potty train.

Our new whelping room has central heat and air for those cold and hot days. Having the pen inside our home help with the amount of one on one time we send with each and every puppy.The whelping room will only be used in the last couple of weeks. Before the new bassets begin to go to their new homes.

Our new Whelping area is being built now and will be ready for the next litter. We also are working on small play area of dog toys.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Basset Memorial Park

We have started a Memorial area for those Bassets that have gone to Heaven.

We talk with a lot of Loving Basset Owner that have lost their pets. Losing mans best friend is hard, I know! We have started this Memorial Park in memory of one of our own beloved Bassets. I was having a very hard time with this loss. A family member told me about how much God loved animals. How that where created first, and how the gates of Heaven, we are told. Have great Lions on each side. I was reminded how the Bible says we will have everything we loved in Heaven.

If God would give His only Son Jesus to Save Me and I will have everything I would ever want, Don't you think He will give me my Basset

God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good

Psalms 148:10 wild animals and all livestock; small creatures and flying birds ... riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. ...

 

 

 

 

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. 

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. 

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. 

All the animals  who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. 

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. 

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. 

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. 

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

We love each of our Bassets. This is their home and sould injoy running and playing. Next we are going to be building the Bassets a 2 story dog house.
